Committee election results are in, with 36 new members elected across eight committees, and an independent audit confirming the results! Making sense of the ₳275M Budget Info Action

This week, Intersect submitted a Budget Info Action to the Cardano community. It proposes an aggregate budget of ₳275,269,340 to fund a set of ecosystem initiatives over a 12-month period. The number is significant, but it represents more than a funding request. It reflects the outcome of a structured, community-driven process that involved public input, delegated representative (DRep) voting, and alignment with the roadmap approved earlier this year. To understand how to interpret this proposal, it’s important to unpack what it represents, how it works, and what comes next.

Intersect committee election results

The Cardano community answered the call in the 2025 Q1 committee elections, with 522 members, 27% of eligible voters, casting a total of 11839 ballots among 119 candidates competing for 36 seats across eight committees.

Intersect hosted five X Spaces as a facilitator where candidates could introduce themselves, and electors could inform their decisions. This strong turnout is a fantastic result not only for Intersect but for the broader progress of Cardano governance, and we’re grateful to everyone who participated in strengthening our democratic foundations.

Welcome to Intersect’s Development Update #61. Our budget info action, comprising 39 proposals signalled in the final temperature check will be submitted in epoch 557, with DReps set to vote on budget allocations marking the next step towards ecosystem funding. Intersect’s committee elections closed with a 27% turnout and are now in audit, while candidate registration is open for the Constitutional Committee!

Moving forward: a strong signal as we build a budget info action together

Over the past few weeks, Intersect has coordinated an off-chain process to gather community input on budget priorities for Cardano. We recognise that a lot changed along the way, and we know that has been far from smooth. We made adjustments in response to community feedback and tried to stay agile, even if the process wasn’t perfect.

Intersect Board of Directors statement on Core Budget proposals

During the Budget Reconciliation Workshop we have seen conflict between competing budget proposals for the development and maintenance of Cardano’s core network infrastructure.  Specifically, several members of the Intersect Technical Steering Committee have submitted a proposal entitled, “Cardano Maintenance and Roadmap Delivery Proposal: Secure Ada Network Infrastructure for the enTire cardano communitY” (sic) which competes with the “2025 Input Output Engineering Core Development Proposal.” These two proposals have substantial overlap in the problems being addressed and solutions being offered, with different approaches from each proposer.
